MCB
An MCB, or Miniature Circuit Breaker, is a type of electrical switch that automatically opens a circuit when it detects an overcurrent condition, such as an overload or short circuit. This prevents damage to electrical equipment and reduces the risk of fire. MCBs are an alternative to fuses and offer the advantage of being resettable, making them more convenient for repeated circuit protection.
Function:
- MCBs protect circuits from overloads and short circuits by automatically interrupting the flow of electricity.
- They use a thermal tripping mechanism for overload protection and a magnetic tripping mechanism for short-circuit protection.
- MCBs can be reset by simply flipping the switch back on after the fault is cleared.
